Jackie and Doris Yu, married and business partners for over thirty years, have one of the fastest growing, highly respected hair replacement company in Southern California.

As a teenager in Hong Kong, Jackie worked in a wig manufacturing plant. He immigrated to Los Angles with his wife, Doris, in 1976 and worked in a hair replacement shop. In 1979, the Yus opened their own small 400 square-foot shop on Sunset Boulevard.

Fast-forward several expansions and twenty-five years… they opened shop in their current 3000 square-foot headquarters. Though their business was doing well, the Yus felt the hairpiece quality was inconsistent. So they solved the problem by spending $200,000 to open their own manufacturing plant in Thailand – a first in the hair systems industry.

According to Chris Webb, publisher and editor of The National Hair Journal, an industry trade magazine, "…owning their own factory is unheard of in this business. In addition they have excelled at customer relations…"

More importantly, Jackie Yu is not just an owner of Hair Art, he is also a customer. Today, Hair Art is regarded as a highly respected leader in the hair replacement industry with over 3000 satisfied customers… and growing.

Real, untreated, superior quality human hair is culled from vendors worldwide, which is what sets Hair Art apart from the rest of the industry. Working from a mold of the customer's scalp, workers hand-sew each hairpiece. Realistic replacements are matched to a customer's remaining hair. One hair at a time is sewn to a skin-like membrane… a process that takes about seven days. "We don't have a one size fits all mentality," says Jackie Yu. "Every person's hair is a different color, a different density, a different type."

Future plans include additional shops throughout California. And additional services that go beyond hair systems - in the West Hollywood salon, clients can now treat themselves to an entire range of rejuvenating skin and body treatments.

While Hair Art’s presence is currently limited to the Southern California area, we have clients who come from other parts of California and as far as the East Coast, who have made the choice to not let geography get in the way of getting themselves the best hair systems in the industry.
